Alba Thermal Springs is a mineral hot springs and day spa on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. They offer contemporary bathing experiences and treatments, providing an escape for people to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect.
I worked closely with the Alba team and MASS to deliver a wayfinding strategy for the new expansive retreat designed by Hayball (architecture) and Mala (landscape). The site includes 32 outdoor mineral pools including geothermal pools, a rain pool, cold plunge pools, botanical pools, forest pools and a sunset pool. My strategy balances effective wayfinding with self-guided exploration and discovery. The strategy ensures people can find destinations like the Botanicals, Hemisphere or Lawn but also encourages guests to wander, explore and be pleasantly surprised.
Specific scope included:
- Develop a wayfinding strategy for the public areas of buildings, landscapes and pools.
- On-site observations.
- Journey mapping of guests and staff.
- Circulation and decision points.
- Identification of touch points.
- Addressing and naming.
- Functional requirements.
- Collaborative working sessions
- Stakeholder engagement
